2025 – 26 THEME – ‘Happiness in Nature’

Are you a young person who loves capturing the world through a lens? Whether you’re snapping with a smartphone or experimenting with professional gear, this is your chance to show the world what you see — and feel — through photography.

The ‘Happiness in Nature’ theme can be interpreted as broadly as the Young Photographer wishes and does not need to conform to a dictionary definition. This theme is open to your interpretation — so don’t feel boxed in! You don’t need to define it literally. Maybe it’s the joy of a morning walk, your pet in the garden, sunlight through the trees, or the peace of a quiet stream. Maybe it’s something unexpected that only you would notice.

Let your camera tell the story of what makes you happy in the natural world — and show us what we might otherwise miss. The Rotary Young Photographer Competition is organised and promoted by Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (Rotary GB&I). There are three stages to the competition, each designed to support and encourage the development of photographic skills.

The winner of the Senior Category was Sophia Boulton “I think this photo shows Happiness in Nature as there aren’t any man-made constructions or litter.”

The winner of the Intermediate Category was Ted Foxall. “I took this photo in my garden. The frog lives in our pond. As you can see from the photo the frog is enjoying living life in its natural habitat.”
